AO (Awakening Overload) is an ongoing project by NAOWAO examining memory and grief through animation, games, zines, and sculptural creatures.
AO Echoes collects photographs and accounts from people who live with these objects. A figure occupies a sacred space, sits at a mahjong table, or becomes a charm named after a grandmother. These accounts show how meaning develops through placement, naming, and use.
At Taipei Art Book Fair 2026, Blue Blue (NAOWAO and Yuri Sato) held a Charm Altar Workshop. Participants considered a memory they wanted to carry, selected guardians and trinkets, and tied indigo-dyed bracelets. Reflective questions and a ritual guide zine structured the process of choosing and assembling, while each participant determined the object's personal significance.
