Baroque Currents (2023–2026) is a series of abstract canvases painted entirely with a sponge — no brushes — over a gesso ground, finished with a touch of lacquer. Swirling currents of red, crimson, black, magenta and pink move from near-black density to luminous light, like a single tide. The series began in 2023 alongside my American Dream paintings and became my liberation from that project: the start of a new style of creation, where gesture and color carry everything. The series originally had eight canvases; the first one sold, and these seven remain — three at 36 × 36 in and four at 20 × 20 in.
