Bent Plywood

As a minimalist post-abstract artist, my work explores the sculptural dimensions of the painting surface. Veneered plywood serves not only as the canvas but also, in a sense, as the medium itself, which I manipulate—bending, drilling, and polishing—into unconventional shapes and forms. The modified surface engages in a continuous conversation with recurrent painterly elements, such as color gradients, mark-making, transparencies, negative spaces, and especially the circular motif—a dot, a circle, a sphere, or occasionally a hole. While investigating the unresolved tensions of this material and pictorial dialogue, I also aim to unravel its symbolic, introspective, and meditative qualities.
