Bookbinder : An Unfinished Intention

Bookbinder is a luminous sculptural object crafted from Gypulp, an eco-conscious blend of recycled newspaper and ground plasterboard, developed in collaboration between designers Purva Kundaje and Blake Carlson-Joshua. Minimal in form but rich in metaphor, it resembles a folded page or partially open book. The first piece in the ongoing series Illuminating Expressions, it is rooted in storytelling and shared authorship.

It explores the moment before expression—a breath before authorship. It offers not illumination as function, but as quiet presence, holding space for memory and potential. Designed to remain neutral and unmarked, it invites creatives across disciplines to respond, reinterpret, and transform it. More than a finished artwork, it is a sculptural prompt- a glowing blank page that begins with others.
