Nathan Harrison (they/them)
This painting is based on an experience I had while playing bass on tour in the spring of 2026. The night we played Chicago, we hunkered into a friend's small apartment, where air mattresses and sleeping bags created what felt like when I was a child having sleepovers with my friends, the dreamy kind where tiredness and giddiness is flowing throughout the night.
The painting is of the morning after the sleepover. It was late in the morning, the rain had just subsided, coffee cups were half dank. It was a handful of friends lingering around the edges of sleep. There was something quietly enchanting about it all, the sort of ordinary magic that sneaks up on you when you're not looking. The whole world could have fit in that tiny apartment.
