Caro Arevalo’s plant & fungi art

I am a Peruvian visual artist based in Woodstock, NY.
My artwork explores our plant and fungi kin as seen with our naked eyes and through the microscopes; the taxonomy and physicality of living beings and the cosmogonies, the invisible yet powerful spirit and consciousness each carries. My work starts by doing nature research, then capturing it under microscopes, and then starting to work on paintings that express these microscopic observations and what has been recorded on the field.

My family comes from the jungle in Peru and from my Amazonian heritage I embrace the notion that we are all connected, the importance of rituals and ancestral wisdom, embracing our unity with nature in our daily lives.
