Trees are like mirrors—they reflect above and below—and in this way they are rather alchemical. They grow up as they grow down. They pull from the light and the dark. And while they circulate water through the ecosystem, they also create both the air we breathe and the shade we need. In this sense, they are catalysts of creation. And I like to capture their beauty at sunset—taking their silhouettes and manually flipping the photos back upon themselves to find and unfold a hidden beauty that was right there all along.
