Cats have an elegant aura that I have always admired. They are curious about the world around them and perfectly comfortable exploring it on their own. They don't mind being entertained, but they are just as happy finding interesting things to do by themselves. And if they find themselves in company they don't enjoy, they simply leave.

Cats can be big and powerful or small and soft, but they share an unmistakable feline character: independence, curiosity, and self-possession. Perhaps these qualities are part of why cats have been loved, respected, and portrayed in folklore around the world for centuries. In these paintings, I wanted to give each cat its own world to inhabit and explore.
