My paintings focus on female portraits set in varying degrees of disarray and organized chaos. The visual narrative revolving around women and their environments in graffiti laden wastelands, neon signs and barren midnight settings invoke feelings of loneliness, strength and vulnerability. Aided by textured backgrounds, bold colors, religious iconography and strong compositions, the women in my paintings contrast the world in which they are set. The female portraits are meant to capture fleeting moments and ambiguous suggestions of the present day climate. This creates a bleak world with a heavy feeling of intimacy and melancholy.
