A few days ago I was walking down a street that had not passed before. I came across this statue, which represents someone or some entity that existed - or not? And there, immortalized in marble, it watches day after day, for many decades, and will probably continue to look, realities of life that this marble person will never experience. A witness - as fleeting as any of us. Dead air.
