City of Seven Hills

I am a recent arrival in Somerville, prompting me to pursue an idea of pilgrimage, a search for a better understanding of the cities intricacies and unique elements when it has such a small geographic footprint and to make small moments with the people that live here. I was struck by a Jimmy Baldwin quote I return to while shooting: 'driven to find that long-lost friend, to grasp again, with fearful hope, the unwilling human hand - a human being could only be saved by another human being. I am aware that we do not save each other very often. But I am also aware that we save each other some of the time...perhaps something wonderful will happen, a miracle...of coherence and release' reaching 'the apprehension and acceptance of one's own identity.' I am seeking something similar, reaching out to blindly brush another's fingers.
