Kawen Kuang is a contemporary ceramic artist and painter. She received her BFA in SUNY at Purchase College. She immigrated to Brooklyn from China when she was fifteen years old. In Kawen’s work, painting itself is the release of endless imagination, with the motif of geometric shapes, girl characters and nature coming back to her over and over again. Her bold use of bright colors and the unexpected arrangement of objects in environments, emphasizes the boundless possibilities imagination possesses in the picture plane. She currently lives and works in New York City.
