Submission Painting

Dancer Series

The Dancer series deconstructs subject and medium by reducing figures in motion to a frame-by-frame state. Executed on translucent waxed canvas, the works reveal the structural scaffolding of the artwork and foreground process while suspending motion in a static form.

Colin Elmer is a New York–based artist whose work investigates how humans attempt to control and interpret the natural world. With a background in Communication Design (BFA, Parsons School of Design), Elmer works across drawing, painting, and experimental publishing to dismantle the boundaries between movement, image, and writing, revealing mark-making as a form of language.
