“Devour Me” is a series of allegorical works reflecting upon the complexity of love. In this series I explore intimacy and the obsessive and consumptive nature of romantic relationships.
I use oil painting because the medium has an ability to draw a viewer in with a romantic allure and historically held such a hierarchical position within the arts. The first layer in my works is often quite rich and sumptuous. Then, I use the same medium to superimpose content that can be camp, gauche, or grotesque in an effort to impose different readings and emotions.
