Submission Painting

Diaspora Mythologies

I paint in oil on cotton canvas, each surface edged with 23k gold leaf. The gold is not ornamental, a relic, a witness. These canvases hold both violence and sanctity, becoming bodies where memory, history, and memories swim.
My process is urgent, intuitive, and emotional: color becomes memory, form becomes fracture. The canvas is a site of tension where the unspeakable is both carried and transformed.
These works are not about grief. They hold the echoes of what has been lost, and also the beauty of what remains The freedom, resilience, and individuality of American life carried through the diasporic body. I speak in the language of dreams, inviting stillness, reflection, and return. What you discover in these paintings is as essential as what I intended. an unspoken conversation amid a fractured world.
