Drawings and Mixed Media Art

I’ve been making art since I cold hold a pen. I always had an active imagination, and drawing often served as a way of passing the time as well as escaping the monotony of everyday life and pain of personal struggles. I’ve spent most of life in the D.C. Area, and got a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2016. My art often starts with improvisational illustration, and expands over time to include mixed media and printmaking. In making art, I try to be reflexive and experimental. I find adapting to a piece as it emerges to be very fruitful and conducive to creativity. Popular, lowbrow and applied arts, as well as political and subversive imagery inform my art. I think the delineation between “fine” and other arts is elitist, pretentious, and arbitrary. Instead of trying to force contrived symbolism
