Ecology explores the connections between human life and the natural world. Working with oil pastels, soft pastels and charcoal, I bring together birds, leaves, faces and imagined creatures in layered compositions, where one form often becomes part of another. Vivid colour, repeated patterns and textured surfaces create a world shaped by observation and imagination. Drawing on memory and my Syrian and Iraqi heritage, I weave these forms into stories of belonging, vulnerability and coexistence. Each work is an imagined ecosystem in which human, animal and plant life share space, reflecting the relationships that sustain us and our need to feel connected to something beyond ourselves.
