Inspired by personal stories during the 2020 pandemic, the exhibition is a series of mixed media paintings about connections made across the internet. During a time when everyone had little to none real life social interactions, many, myself included, seeked meaningful relationships on virtual platforms. We found a sense of belonging akin to a second home - a virtual family. These bonds transcended the ordinary connections we see. The over-the-screen-connection came with a spectrum of consequences, ranging from joy, warmth, security to anxiety, fixation, and codependency. Each work invites viewers to explore a new kind of bond shaped by technology, where mechanical and biological merge into an unconventional love story of our time.
