Esperanza (Spanish for ''Hope'') is a photographic series that captures the bittersweet taste that Hope leaves on the soul. The dramatic subject, picturesque setting, and ''dirty'' hues come together to create an image that portrays the unsettling, yet sensual and romantic emotions that accompany grief and melancholia. Originally intended to be a social commentary on pollution, the Photographer found a new meaning in the images after experiencing his first heartbreak; particularly, the never-ending loop of hoping your loved one will come back.
