Faceless Portraits

My work always focuses on photographing people. I love the way that people can move, the shapes and forms that our bodies can create, I find the human body to be the most interesting subject. But not faces. I find something so eerily beautiful about the tension and mystery that is created when you take away a person’s face from a photograph. They become almost unidentifiable, and that instinctively becomes uncomfortable to us. This style is one that I didn’t consciously develop, rather something I noticed over time, now it is something I do intentionally.

Sometimes I include parts of the persons face, but never the whole thing, and never the eyes. A person’s eyes can so easily betray their true emotions. I want the emotion in my work to come through the feeling of the photograph, not the feeling of the person in it.
