This project looks at both the impact that General Motors has had on Flint, Michigan and the current water crisis in the city. It is inspired by reports of the local governments failure to warn residents of the poisoned water source and the decline of General Motors in Michigan. Through fictionalized human narratives, it is a project divided into four moments in time in the history of Flint, with each narrative explored in a unique way. The work is concerned with the cyclical nature of time and the boundaries between fact and fiction. It explores the history of the city through the archive material of major events in its history – using maps, witness statements and radio broadcasts to inform the narratives, responding in nostalgic imagery to tell the stories of the people of Flint.
