Submission Painting

Flow State Series

I took a hike in a park I love and did all these studies there that worked out well. I wanted to literally expand these ideas onto 24x36" paper. There were moments in these pieces that worked not together but independent of each other. I cut them out to keep for myself as a prompt for future paintings. I call them edits. I don't know what made use the thread. It was just one of those magic free moments in the studio when you're just doing and not controlling. The stitching added that last missing element, the future. It's the push. The push beyond the edge, movement that just off the page. It is also a collision of two versions of cotton, cotton paper and cotton thread. They compliment each other by doing what the other cannot do.
