Forest in the City

Based on an on-field research in Oregon to study recent timber buildings and mass timber factories, this proposal can be read as a prototypical tower on the Highland park hillside, which requires an innovative approach toward spatial organization to accommodate the living space, as well as the public, communal spaces.

It takes on a similarity of MVRDV’S Hannover Pavilion, which can be understood as a system of stacking ideal typologies rather than constraining these types within a container. This building packs different types of housing and programs within a series of platforms and containers, varying degrees of privacy and openness is created in multiple layers of living space.
