Four Engawa House was selected as one of 25 winning proposals from 112 entries in the 2024 Aera Home Architecture Competition and, following further development with Aera Home, became one of 14 designs commercialized as part of the company’s residential product line. Four Engawa House is designed to enrich everyday family life while adapting to changing lifestyles over time. Private rooms and service spaces form a compact central core, surrounded by flexible shared spaces and four distinct engawas for gathering, relaxing, and connecting. The Lounge Engawa opens to the living room, the Picnic Engawa extends from the dining area, and the Gardening Engawa brings natural light and greenery into the home. Together, these flexible spaces create a closer relationship between everyday life, nature, and seasonal change.
