Sunset Cruise is an award-winning proposal from the 2024 “Shenyou Qichong” Hainan Shenchong Public Art International Competition, receiving the Shenyou Award and ranking first in the Cruise Livery Design category.

The project takes inspiration from Hainan’s seascape sunsets. The vessel is wrapped in a pixelated gradient derived from the shifting colors of the evening sky, with each pixel taking the form of a flower native to hainan. At close range, the graphics reveal subtle variations in color and scale; from a distance, the ship dissolves into its surroundings, appearing as a moving landscape across the water.
