Concealment and visibility define my experience of growing up in the UK when homosexuality was legally silenced under Section 28. In a landscape void of positive representation, I describe my authentic self at that time as a 'ghost within me'.

In this series, I reappropriate pages from the gay pornographic magazines I secretly bought and hid away as a closeted teenager—where I found my only glimpses of male intimacy. I remove the models from these pages physically with a white synthetic rubber eraser designed for erasing ink on paper, reflecting the erasure of my sexuality during adolescence. I then hand-embroider over the blank spaces from behind, allowing the thread to 'haunt' the absence of the queer body that was always there, even when unseen.
