Habitual Pattern

Habitual Pattern is a personal project about my relationship to the square. I use it as something practical and familiar, but also as a way of containing what feels difficult to control. This pattern began in my childhood room, which I used as an escape from the real world. Returning to this room in my mind as an adult, I became aware of an old pattern of withdrawing and trying to contain what felt overwhelming. In the drawings, I repeat this process, forcing things into the neat, fixed squares of graph paper. The square gives me something fixed to return to. The project is still ongoing.
