I took this series during the heatwave in Paris.
It reminded me of a ritual that used to be done by teenagers in my hometown in the south of France : the jumping off the local bridge. It symbolized the coming of age of a child, when becoming a teenager.
And there was something about it, to see this being set in an urban setting like Paris that moved me. Time stood still for a moment.
Despite the sadness of the backdrop ; a heatwave, people suffocating in their tiny urban homes, probably the coolest summer we'll have from now on... the youth found some joy. And this is something that fascinates as much as it daunts me - how do we continue living in a world that is running out? How to be young in a world that is falling apart?
The youth keeps living, and the backdrop is bittersweet.
