HOME IN RESIDENCY, 2020-present

This body of work talks about my home obsession as an immigrant and long-term outsider living both literally in a foreign country and cognitively in this crumbling world. While recording daily trivialities and watching backyard animals, I took a tender look back at domestic life. With the idea of game in mind, I reserved both concerns and playfulness in my narrative. It was a self-exploration regarding random thoughts like time and eternity, memory and reality, dimensions and existence, as well as life and death. By observing and integrating imagery and symbols, I have been training myself to be more specific in my storytelling, treating this process as a personal therapy — with moments of fun and softness.
