Submission Drawing

House, hanging the wash

It is a replica of one of my childhood drawings printed on linen. This drawing may be interpreted as an expression of my search and yearning for a familiar and safe living space.

House is not only a hung cloth but also a gentle exposure of a kid's fragility, insecurity, and self, who always knew that she doesn't belong to "normal" and couldn't trust its institutions such as school, class, or family through hanging a washed cloth to dry in a public space, as an act of intimacy. It kindly handles the relationships between public space, living space, and identity on the individual level.
