It's easy to fall into the comforting hug of sadness, the hug that slowly creeps in and squeezes tighter till it's no longer comforting but insufferable. This happens when we stop growing our inner child and let our dreams and ambitions get crushed by the fear of others and the pressure to "grow up." This collection is an exploration of one's desires and dreams though I explore different internal ideas, issues, and cultural topics throughout each character. Overall, this group of paintings invites viewers to put themselves in the position of the faceless characters to inspire them to think unrealistically.... to dream. I stray from the usual immigrant/lower-class struggle imagery that lower-income and people of color are often portrayed in and focus on showing stories we are often told aren't real or dont see ourself in.
