Creative constraints in art are what keep things interesting. There’s a puzzle or challenge to it. Can I pull this off in two or three values? Only using this particular pen or brush technique. The most effective work is simple, graphic and expressive. I want an illustration to grab my attention from across the room, and share it’s energy with me upon closer inspection.
