We are thrilled to announce Kosuke Ajiro's first exhibition in the United States, Excavation Record I – Sayonara, opening September 12 and on view through October 24. Drawing from an imagined mythology buried somewhere between ancient history and fantasy, Ajiro approaches his practice as an excavation of the mysterious Kingdom of Sally. His paintings and objects appear as fragments recovered from a lost medieval world—inhabited by human figures, animals, gods, and mythical creatures—then reimagined through a distinctly contemporary lens. Evoking the atmosphere of faded murals, religious relics, and artifacts from an unknown civilization, Ajiro creates a world that feels at once ancient and strangely familiar. Excavation Record I – Sayonara marks an important introduction to Ajiro's imaginative universe in the United States.
