La Pocha

I have worked with La Pocha Nostra, the transdisciplinary performance troupe led by Guillermo Gómez-Peña, as a performer, workshop participant, photographer and videographer, and producer. My work with the troupe has taken me from Querétaro and Mexico City to Taos, New Mexico, and has connected me with a global community of artists I still collaborate with today.
La Pocha Nostra's method treats the body as a site of political and cultural argument. Performers build living images that confront borders, identity, colonial myth and the ways cultures are consumed and fetishized. Working inside that practice, on stage and behind the camera, has shaped how I think about presence, risk and the audience's role in making meaning.
