My figurative art centers on the animal and human form presented in varying degrees of expressionism.. To be interesting, art must tell a story but also cause a reaction and maybe even ask a question. My favorite leave elements both known and unknown to the viewer. Fight or flight, the moment of truth or all the discomfort of uncertainty captured at once on canvas.
I work mostly with acrylic paint, adding glazes and various reclaimed materials.
My earliest love was illustration and I host a cast of characters who live in my sketch pads. Some of these characters feel familiar, like the animals we love, though others are quite foreign having traveled an impossible distance just to tell me their stories. Foreign or familiar, much of my work is based on these stories and I am thrilled to present them to you here!
