Medicine Women is an ongoing series of watercolour paintings by British-Guyanese artist Roberta Orpwood, exploring the meeting place between the human, animal and spiritual worlds.
Rooted in my relationship with nature, dreams and my own shamanic practice, these paintings bring female figures together with animal presences to explore intuition, transformation, inner sight and our relationship with the unseen.
The three works shared here, Jaguar Woman, Dreaming Mother of Moon and Barn Owl Medicine Woman, each emerged with their own mythic story and character, yet belong to a wider exploration of the visible and invisible, the human and more-than-human, and the inner landscapes we encounter through periods of change.
