Miquel Wert | ‘Mise en scène’

"The fear of disappearing and oblivion leads us to develop many different ways in order to try to avoid it.
Throughout his artistic labor, Miquel Wert has always questioned himself about this concern, therefore he has developed a vital need to overcome time. By the use of various literary, photographic and also cinematographic references he has been able to reconstruct scenes from the past in such a way that seem that the actors update their script to adapt it to another contemporaneity. One of which the spectator’s gaze also is part of.
Paper, wood, canvas or outdoors walls have been his most used supports. Whereby by drawing, he has meticulously selected, interiorized and distilled timeless scenes from photographs of his family album or orphaned ones found in markets in different cities".
