Moby-Dick project

This is a personal illustration project based on Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick, one of the books that has stayed with me the most.
I am interested in obsession as a force that transforms the person who carries it. In Ahab’s hunt for the whale, the boundary between hunter and prey begins to collapse: the object of obsession enters the body, distorts it, and eventually consumes it.
Moby-Dick is not only a story about whale hunting. It is a circular hunt in which Ahab, and the sailors who follow him, become trapped inside the very force they are trying to conquer. Human will, nature, violence, and the unknown merge into something larger, physical and metaphysical at the same time.
