This project stems from my observation of tides and moon phases, and their resonance with personal emotions. My hometown Dalian, a coastal city, holds memories carried in the ebb and flow of the sea. Living between Dalian and London, I see the pull of the moon’s gravity on the tides as a metaphor for my own experience: wherever I am, the sea and moon connect me to home. By exploring Dalian’s geography, history, and daily life, I seek to map the layered bond between people and place, tracing shifting self-identity like the tide and the enduring sense of belonging across time and space.
