Inspired by Green Day’s album of the same name, I replaced the iconic yellow circles with blue-green apples as a sign of respect to the pioneers of art.
The dripping, juicy texture hints at the hidden jokes in the album’s margins.
Frontman Billie Joe once compared himself to “an American imitating the British, who are in turn imitating the Americans.”
I expressed that duality through contrasts of pop and art, seriousness and absurdity.
