Submission Painting

Nothing Bad Has Happened Yet

Something is always about to happen in these rooms. A girl feeds ducks while something red drips down her hand. A woman sleeps next to a snake and neither one seems afraid. Rabbits gather where a feast is laid out, though nobody is eating yet.
I paint old rooms and the animals that live inside them like secrets. A leopard leans close. Owls circle a girl who won't look up. Geese walk across a woman's dress like she isn't there at all.
Nothing bad has happened yet. But something is close.
I want you to feel that closeness, the way a house feels different at night, the way a story feels right before the twist. Simple scenes, strange air. That's what I paint.
