When wildfires swept through Los Angeles in 2025, the world outside my door felt overwhelming. Instead of shutting down, I turned toward abstraction to face that uncertainty. The process helped me retreat into beauty, surrender control, and stay present.
Each image is shaped by uncertainty.
I see this project as part of a larger conversation about making work that responds directly to place, time, and change. I’m interested in how art can be shaped by the environment, including things we can’t control, like wildfires. By working this way, I’m asking what it means to pay close attention to the present moment, accept impermanence, and use what’s right in front of me.https://loripond.c
