These series of photographs which I have titled ‘Nowhere’ were created when I found myself reflecting on alienation. It was emotional alienation at first – the unbearableness of human isolation and the emotional detachment that it instigates. I knew how loneliness felt, and, essentially, what it was, but never quite understood how it could look like. How could one externalize it? Can, in fact, one, externalize it?
During one of my stays in London, I took a long walk at night, wanting to capture the essence of the city. What started as a photo-hunting solo odyssey, ended up with the city’s deafening buzz taking over me. I, to the most acute of ways, experienced loneliness. And isolation. So, I hid behind my camera and sought out for the people like me – in the underground, corners of Soho, building windows.
