Oblivion - Artist Statement
In Oblivion, I explore urban walls as living archives of collective memory, where posters, graffiti, advertisements, and fragments of text accumulate and gradually disappear. My process begins in the streets, where I photograph weathered surfaces and collect visual traces. Back in the studio, I transform these materials and observations into paintings through layering, collage, tearing, covering, and erasure.
Moving between reality and imagination, the works reflect how time reshapes images, obscures messages, and transforms their meanings. Rather than treating oblivion as complete disappearance, the series examines how fragments of the past persist, even as the memories they once carried become increasingly difficult to recover.
