My paintings includes vibrant colors, delicate details and often complex structure.
Historically, people have viewed flora and fauna as separate from humanity. I strive to acknowledge the sentient nature of our environment. My intimate perspectives bring the viewer to the subject’s level, creating a sense of closeness and connection.
My rich, dense compositions draw influence from forest floor and nature painters of previous centuries. Accuracy in depicting my subjects is important to me, but I do sometimes relegate this in favor of more dramatic and lively scenes.
I have grown increasingly drawn toward the escapism that can be found in our natural world. I know that this may seem frivolous in these tumultuous times, but perhaps now more than ever, we might find solace in the everyday wonders that surround us.
