Submission Painting

Painting Salvatore Alessi

My painting explores the relationship between image, perception, and the construction of reality. I work through a tension between figuration and abstraction, combining recognizable fragments, gestures, materiality, and references to contemporary visual culture.
My images often emerge from a cinematic dimension: editing, enlargement, cropping, and sequencing become pictorial tools. I am interested in what happens when a familiar image is altered, isolated, or reassembled, losing its immediacy and acquiring new ambiguities.
Rather than simply representing the world of images, my work questions the way images shape and influence our gaze.
