Growing up in an apocalyptic religion left me both excited and terrified of the future. In my work I am attempting to depict a future that is neither dystopian or utopian but has strong elements of both swirling together, much like today.
We are currently facing many global catastrophes, while much worse is predicted. We already have the technology to mitigate this climate crisis, whether we will use enough, and in time to make a difference remains to be seen.
l imagine a future where self-replicating architecture and cities grow across the landscape, mining their own building materials and eliminating their own waste. As dark as things may look hope is what I cling to the most, without it we will lose everything.
