With distorted and obscured faces, figures seem lost or trapped, often morphed into the environment, melted or smudged. They are locked in their inescapable frustration and discomfort of being with oneself. My examination of their discomfort is more detached, nonetheless, I am concerned for them as though they are my patients and I closely inspect their troubles. At the same time, their lost identity resembles my search for an identity as an artist in the social world. All figures in a way are fragmented pieces of myself. Often on a subconscious level, they might mirror my own uncertainties and angst. I attempt to get a glimpse into a changed reality through these reflections. This reality balances between psychological truth and hallucinatory visions.
These are my patients and I am their patient.
