I like to work with a frontal, direct gaze, treating illustration almost like photography, where the subject seems aware of being seen. The compositions are still, deliberately unhurried. Nothing in the images is inherently unsettling, but the mood is: a quiet tension sits underneath the stillness, in the palette, the framing, the way figures face outward. I'm interested in capturing bodies in a moment that could be before or after something, aware of being looked at.
