Working primarily from imagination rather than direct observation, my oil painting practice begins with quick sketches that provide an initial structure. However, many colors and compositional decisions are made during the process. I start with references to the natural world, such as landscapes or still life combined with mineral stones and other earthy elements. These references may appear familiar at first, but through my painting decisions they take on a surreal approach. Those landscapes bring together the natural and technological worlds, forming environments where these two systems collide reshaping an alternative reality.
